Fishing During Run off

Finding fishable water this time of year can be challenging. High water lakes in the Beartooth Mountains are always an option and can be excellent fishing as the ice is coming off. Tailwater below dams or lakes are usually fishable and the larger trout are more confident with the increased flows and slightly off-color water. Traveling as far upstream as possible is also a great idea making the East Rosebud, West Rosebud and Stillwater rivers a great choice for this time of year. This weekend I plan on heading up to one of my favorite mountain lakes just outside of Yellowstone National Park. As I am typing this blog I have not figured out who is going to accompany me yet, if anyone. So if anyone is reading this you know how to get ahold of me. All phone calls regarding real estate, Red Lodge, Fishing, skiing, backpacking or coffee requests will be answered immediately.

The mountains are calling.
